The Human Printer by Nick Blakeman | On Tumblr.

These are not just photo-realistic painting snippets of body parts– these are actual photos by artist Nick Blakeman, who painted a female model from the bottom up to recreate the illusion of 3D printing of the human body.
The unnerving optical illusion is accentuated by the Doug-esque color scheme of right purple and bright yellow (Doug the 90′s cartoon, that is.)

By painting a 2D rendering of a 3D illusion on a real, 3D person, this project hits every note perfectly– modern, simple, smart, and meta, all the things we like on the internet. From Blakeman’s website:

A sequence of photos portraying a female body being gradually ‘printed’ from feet to head, mimicking the 3D printing process. Nominated for a D&AD Yellow Pencil.
